Thimphu: Bhutan Telecom has announced that as a planned strategy of doing away with obsolete technology, it will be replacing the DRMASS system in Bubja and Tshangkha under Trongsa district and in Jigmecholing under at Gelephu sub-division with GSM FWP (GSM Fixed Wireless Phones).
As such, the telephone numbers of subscribers at Bubja, Tshangkha and Jigmecholing will change from the existing six digits to eight digits in accordance with the mobile numbering scheme, BT said.
The first two digits of the new numbers will be ‘16’. For Bubja and Tshangkha, the first digit ‘5’of the existing number will be replaced with ‘3’ and for Jigmecholing, the first digit ‘2’of the existing numbers will be replaced with ‘6’. The remaining five digits will remain same. Call charges will not be changed, the company said.
